I read from the book of Ecclesiastes chapter seven verse twenty-nine, “Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions”.
God’s way has always been the best for man, but man has always managed to short-change himself by inventing methods that relieve him but not necessarily good for him in the long run.
Whenever humanity, whether in the field of science or in the field of religion, whenever humanity formulates anything that directly or indirectly circumvents God’s purpose, chaos and sorrow are usually just at the door.
I say, without any ambiguity or doubt, that everything human science and technology have given man may have provided him with some sense of material comforts here and there, but no true lasting value has been added to man.
That humanity is experiencing the proliferation of ease and speed affording inventions does not in any way mean that the human civilisation is advancing.
Just as true industrialisation is not just the erection of economic contraptions, but rather the capacity to produce goods and services under humane conditions without external help, so also, true civilisation is not to be measured by how many things man has built into his physical environment, but by how much of his relationships and interactions are carried on with integrity.
In any case, most human inventions are made solely to serve man’s pleasure without taking into consideration God’s purpose for man’s life.
And whenever God’s will is not a factor in the enterprises of men, folly is not usually farfetched. As First Corinthians chapter three verse twenty says, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain”.
Simply put, whatever man has desired and created for himself with his fallen mind is nonsense in the light of eternity because it is not geared to align humanity with God’s will and purpose.
But before you tune off from this message, you should know that my intention here is not to demonise the products of technology, but to put things in perspective such that you benefit from human inventions without necessarily becoming a slave to the things you bought with your own money to the point of losing your soul.
As Second Corinthians chapter two verse eleven says, “Lest Satan should take advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices”.
Disagree if you like, but Satan the prince of the power of the air is the ruler of this present world, and therefore, most of the ideas and imaginations that come to man are more likely influenced by the forces of darkness than God.
In other words, except you constantly filter your thoughts and designs by the word of God, you are bound to fall prey to the schemes of the devil.
Hence, all human inventions that were not made primarily to serve God’s purpose for man have surface advantages but hidden devastating agenda. Remember, John ten verse ten says, “The thief comes to steal, to kill and to destroy”.
So when the fallen heart of man is giving him something nice, there just might be something in it too for the devil.
You may say, “Didn’t God give man the mind to make things?” Yes God did, but man is responsible for everything he chooses to invent because of free will – just as God is responsible for putting sperm in an unmarried man but He is not responsible for the birth of a bastard – the fornicator is.
Now, the objectives of this lecture are these:
. One, to help you recognise the enemy and his agenda. Matthew thirteen verse twenty-five says, “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way”.
It is certainly true that when people who are ignorant of spiritual things go about their earthly ambitions, the forces of darkness easily usurp their intentions to weave-in some dark designs against the kingdom of the holy God.
Ephesians six verse twelve says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places”.
The enemies of man’s soul are far too advanced for him and their trickery is too sophisticated but also too subtle for the carnal man to discern their con. Therefore you must look to God’s word if you are going to have any chance of escape.
. The second objective of this teaching is to remind you where your allegiance lies as a follower of Christ.
Second Timothy chapter two verse four says, “No man at war entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier”.
It is my earnest hope that by the time you are done receiving this message, you would begin to be mindful to not get yourself all mixed up as you try to enjoy all the fantasies the modern world offers.
Remember that Christ taught us that while we live out our existence in this world, we are not part of this world.
First Chronicles twenty-eight verse nine says, “And you, Solomon my son, know thou the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searches all the hearts and He deciphers all the imaginations of the thoughts:
if you seek Him, you will find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you away forever”. Any believer who is not careful with the pursuit of the beautiful life dream is prone to fall into the illusion of idolatry because such a person is bound to replace God with the perishable goodies of this world.
If you are spiritually alive, then you would know what things to pursue and what things to let go.
. The third objective of this exposition is to mobilise you to fight the good fight of faith as a true soldier of Christ in a world where the line between right and wrong is constantly fading out.
Ephesians six verses thirteen through fourteen says, “Wherefore take unto you the whole amour of God that you may be able to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness”.
This message you are hearing now is the word of God and it is able to defend your soul in the war of the ages which rages on.
First Timothy chapter four verse sixteen says, “Take heed to yourself, and to the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this you will both save yourself and them that hear you”.
Now, I want to begin to highlight some of the agenda of the god of this world behind human inventions. But please, have an open mind and don’t just stick to your own ways or to popular culture when they fail in the light of God’s truth.
Adopt the counsel of saint Paul in his epistle to the Philippians, chapter four verse eight, which says, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, possessing virtue, think about such”.
Therefore, open yourself to the revelations you encounter in this message and let them salvage your earthly life. As it is written, now is the acceptable hour for the salvation of your soul. As you listen, do not harden your heart against divine wisdom but believe in Christ and be saved.
So, agenda of the god of this world behind human inventions:
. Number one is to kill and destroy the virtues of patience and longsuffering. Patience and longsuffering are both necessary for holiness without which no man shall see God. Our fast and easy generation is bleeding away the virtues of patience and endurance.
The dream this godless world is selling to you is how you can boycott the waiting process of life and still be happy with yourself. The toasting machine and the noodles, for instance, provide you fast and easy food – but there is a price you pay.
The price you pay for not going through the patience and rigour of cooking good food is that you become the slave of junk foods and you probably kill yourself a little too soon.
That nothing good comes easy may be a cliché but it is nonetheless true. The product of a fast and easy generation of washing machine and vacuum cleaner users is a spineless generation of young people who never want to experience any inconveniences in life – a people who wants everything to happen at the snap of their fingers.
The product is a generation of selfish farmers who would not wait for the natural law of sowing and waiting to reap but they would rather introduce all kinds of dangerous chemicals into their plants and livestock in the name of agricultural technology.
Of course such farmers make more money fast, but the price humanity pays is all the health complications in the lives of the consumers. Jesus Christ says in Luke eighteen verse fifteen, “The good ground are they, which in a honest and good heart, bring forth fruit with patience”.
Patience and endurance are a must for anyone who wants God in their lives. Scriptures says that it is they who endure to the end that shall be saved. But modern religion is unwittingly throwing out all the patience and endurance we have left.
Church no longer engages in the strenuous task of travailing through long hours of prayer. Many Christian can hardly spend one hour alone with God, not to talk of a whole day – modern believers just don’t have that kind of patience.
Where is the Moses who waited on the mountain alone for six whole days before God said anything to him? Where is the prophet Habakkuk who said, “I will stand upon my watch and set me upon the tower and will watch and wait to see what the Lord will say to me? “Or where is the Isaiah who said, “I will wait upon the Lord and I will look for Him”.
And where are the Simeons and the Hannahs who tarry night and day in God’s presence with prayers and fasting for the salvation of their nations?
The churches of today would rather work themselves up with singing and dancing and pretend that God is among them. Whereas, the Holy Spirit departed from their Samson long time ago but they didn’t know it.
What says the Spirit of the Lord to you o modern church? You have a reputation that you are alive and healthy and rich. But you are a tree of hypocrisy because you really are poor and miserable and naked and starving and dead, says the Lord.
Return unto the Lord o ye nations! Amend your ways all you who are called by the name of Christ. Bring to the Lord your God an offering of self-abandonment, and bring to Him the tithe of holiness, says the Spirit of the Lord.
And am I saying you should not use washing machines or vacuum cleaners or toasting machines, or that you should not eat noodles?
No, what I am saying is that realise that because of such inventions, you have to consciously apply yourself to learn patience and endurance unlike your ancestors who practically ate and drank patience and endurance all their lives.
. Another agenda of the god of this world behind human inventions is to keep man from God-appointed hardship. As long as man is under the sun, he must encounter some form of hardship.
God-appointed hardships provide man time to think and weigh his intentions.
A fellow who is enraged at his friend, for instance, might very well pick up his phone in the moment of anger and call up the said friend and rail at him saying so many hurtful things he would probably regret later when his anger is abated.
But imagine that that same fellow did not have a phone and would have to dress up and walk a few miles to meet the said friend he is angry at: he would probably have time to cool off on the way and even reason his case with a clearer mind.
Again, I think of the rather tedious clothing worn in the western world in the past centuries – those clothes were usually complex with many layers and were also very long, and they would probably look unattractive to the modern eyes.
But I imagine that it must have been rather tasking for the Europeans of those era to put on and take off those clothes.
Perhaps, if the people of modern Europe and America had not taken to the foolishness of inventing the culture of skimpy clothing, and if this present generation was not spending so much money on promoting the lifestyle of whores in the name of singers and actors, then maybe many people around the world would usually have a second thought before slaughtering themselves on the altar of fornication, or pornography or adultery.
And maybe there would also be fewer cases of rape in the world.
And one would think the churches would be absorbed of all guilt in this area, but unfortunately we find female choristers and so-called pastor’s wives wearing dresses reaching above their knees.
Some so-called mummy G.O.’s even go about in body-tight clothing that punctuate their sexuality. Those are not mommy G.O.’s but mommy Lucifers. They are not pastor’s wives but the house girls of Jezebel.
Hear the word of the Lord! A generation of fornicators and whores seek divine visitation from the holy God whose eyes are too pure to behold iniquity.
But the only visitation that shall come for this rebellious generation is such as came upon Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord of hosts has a controversy with the people of my generation.
The holy One of all the earth is angry with the sons and daughters of men who go around polluting the people He has bought and washed by His blood. The King is patient but He will come.
He will come suddenly like lightening to rip off the scalp of those who fear not the Lord and He will spit in their faces. Repent and mourn for your sins all you nations of the earth.
Tear down the statue of Jezebel and let her daughters be put to shame. But let the daughters of the Most high clothe themselves with purity and meekness and let them rejoice in the Lord.
For the Lord is coming again. He is coming, yea He is coming to gather His pure ones as gems for His crown, says the Lord. O my dear listener, some hardship is really good for you.
Scriptures say that Jesus learnt obedience through the things he suffered. God told the Israelites in the wilderness that He was making them go through the hardships to teach them to fear Him and to have sympathy for those who are facing difficulty.
Do not allow modern life steal all your blessed difficulties away.
. A third agenda of the god of this world behind human inventions is to keep man from studying the wisdom of God embedded in nature.
By burying all his attention in artificial wonders and vain fascinations provided in such gadgets as smart phones and television sets, man gradually loses his sensitivity to the wisdom nature whispers to him.
The people of old times had so many wise sayings most of which were extracted from their natural environment. A farmer, for instance, was bound to learn something from the trees and leaves among which he toils every day.
Even the mystics of old times derived many of their spells and incantations from natural truths. King Solomon, who is arguably the wisest man in written history, prescribed to us to study and learn wisdom from the ants.
But who today wants to sit down with tiny little ant when they can have bigger fun playing video games or streaming their favourite TV series on their smart phones? Whereas, all of man’s useful inventions were derived from observing nature, the science of which is called biomimicry.
The aeroplanes and drones, for instance, were patterned after the birds. And surgical needles are patterned after the mosquito bite. The LED light bulbs were patterned after fireflies. Some ships are patterned after the shark.
As the Scriptures say, the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the path of the sea are some of the things the all wise Creator-God has put under the feet of man’s imaginations.

Even our cameras are patterned after the human eyes so that Roman one verse twenty is true that the invisible things of God are clearly seen from the visible things he created for man. And therefore, man’s foolish unbelief is inexcusable.
Because if a man can view and capture so much of other people’s activities with a piece of camera patterned after the eyes God gave him, should he then not understand that that is a parable to him that God is able to see all of man’s secret and open deeds with the eyes he gave man.
As Proverbs twenty verse twenty-seven says, “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly”. Indeed, the Lord searches the heart to give mankind according to their ways and according to the fruits of their doings.
Jesus Christ taught us wisdom when He said that except a corn of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone: but if it dies, it will bring forth so much fruits.
But you cannot glean that kind of wisdom from burying your mind in the slavish and zombie-like use of your mobile computers. And I am not asking you to snob your smart phones – I’m sure you don’t even have the spine to do something that radical.
But what I am saying is that you need to strainfully apply yourself to appropriate most of the natural wisdom available to you unlike your ancestors who automatically learnt the same wisdom by interacting with nature every day of their lives.
Another agenda of the god of this world behind human inventions is to unify the children of men in rebellion against the good and only true God.
No reasonable person would deny that, while inventions such as the internet and various social media platforms have helped man to reach his distant neighbours faster and easier, these platforms have also made the circulation of sinful cultures and abominable trends and teachings easier and rampant.
So much demonic images and doctrines are transmitted to billions of people every minute on line whether in the form of adverts or suggested videos. Again, so much of the social media platforms provide men and women with mobile shrines to set up the idol of self.
Most of this generation use their phones to display their pride of life and their lust of the eyes and their lust of the flesh. Fallen man is a natural idolater.
God essentially told the Israelites, even your father Abraham was an idolater when I called him. We all want to put ourselves forward.
We want to be admired – to be celebrated – to be worshipped! And that our natural instinct is satanic; it is disgusting to God. If God were not restraining us by His sovereign grace, we all, like the cursed Lucifer, would try to kick God out of His throne.
But I find it more traumatising to see so-called Christians who ought to know better join in the madness of the show-off culture that is on the internet.
Even religious singers in their glittering dresses and with their well-pancaked faces and standing by some shining costly car or by the swimming pool of some luxurious house call it Christian music video, and they call themselves gospel artistes – bunch of jokers and hypocrites! The gospel of the blessed Saviour is a message of moderation, modesty and meekness.
Hit your head on the ground if you like, but the Christian life does not support the life of luxury much less the display of it. This religion of materialism, from where did you and your so-called spiritual fathers learn it?
It is certainly not from Me, says the Lord. Neither is it from my servants the apostles and the prophets says the Holy One of Israel. That thing in your hand is not Christianity but an idol.
By all biblical and historical standards, you have deviated from the way of the Lord and you are now following a strange Jesus – an anti-Christ! And what says the Spirit of the Lord to those who call His name but live contrary to His example?
It is: go away from me you hypocrites! I hate your works. Your ways are not My ways, says the Lord. But are we asking you o sons and daughters of men to snob the internet? Of course no! Many profitable things are carried on via the internet like the preaching of the gospel and many legal and godly businesses.
What the Spirit is saying to you the believer is: know that the God you serve is holy, and He commands you to practise holiness in your use of the internet.
Another agenda of the god of this world behind human inventions is the acceleration of the mortality of the human race.
The fumes and chemicals coming out of our factories as well as from our engines contaminate the air we breathe especially in the cities.

As Isaiah twenty-four verses five through six say, “The earth is also defiled under the inhabitant thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore the curse devours the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned and few men are left”.
So much of the terminal disease the human race now suffers from came by the inventions of fallen mankind. Also, consider the magnitude of waste our so-called nuclear plants have caused on different occasions.
And our cars and trains and ships and aeroplane; consider how many lives perish by them. Maybe those lives would have perished by other means or maybe they would have lived longer, now we will never know.
But one thing I know is that the gift of God brings blessings without adding any sorrow. And what about the various weapons man has invented to destroy his neighbours with – the guns, the missiles, the bombs, the arrows, the spears and the rest of them?
Historians say initially, man converted his innocent farming tools into weapons when he got the idea and ambition of invading his neighbour’s land and taking over their property in the name of war booties.
But glory to God who has spoken by the mouth of His prophet in the book of Isaiah, chapter two verse four, saying, “The Lord shall rebuke the nations. And they shall beat their swords into ploughshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore”.
Halleluiah! Jesus Christ the king of peace is coming to reign over all the earth. And death and pain and envy and bitterness and strife shall all cease. Amen!
Another agenda of the god of this world behind human inventions is to undermine biblical and apostolic doctrines to replace them with carnal innovations which add little or nothing to the spiritual growth of the Christian or to the cause of the kingdom of God.
The apostolic church in the Book of Acts continued daily in prayer and in the word and in a lifestyle of contentment. But human religion just had to also invent things like praise concerts where sheep and goats gather to shout and sing and dance as if all was well with the world around them –
as if teenagers were not getting pregnant out of wedlock; as if young men were not dabbling into fraud and the occult for money; as if the choir stands were not polluted with fornicators;
as if the church members were not the same people who patronise drinking bars and night clubs; as if your church members are not the same people who frequent gambling spots; as if the churches were not filled with traffickers of marine and terrestrial witchcraft.
Repent, repent! Wake from your sleep of death! And yes, the early church sang songs too, but they were hymns and psalms full of biblical doctrines – not the sensual songs of today’s religious musicians.
Have you not read in Psalm forty-seven verse seven that you should sing praises with understanding? And again, Psalm one hundred and nineteen verse seven says, “I will praise thee with uprightness of heart when I shall have learned thy righteous judgements”.
But how can a generation which hates correction worship a holy God? How can you serve God who you neither know nor fear? It would certainly do Christianity a lot of good if it did away with commercial gospel music.
Maybe then, prophetic psalmists would resurface as in the days of old when Christian songwriters understood that they were not so different from evangelists. Another thing the churches have absorbed from the world is the celebration of father and mother’s days.
But o, every day ought to be your father’s day and your mother’s day to honour and to comfort them. And every day ought to be your sister’s day and your brother’s day and your husband’s day and your wife’s day and your children’s day to treat everybody with dignity all the time.
And what is this thing you call tribal or ethnic day in your churches? O foolish generation, have you not read that in Christ there is no ethnicity or tribalism or nationalism or race?
If you were not still carnal you would have forgotten long ago that you came from different parts of the world. Forget yourselves and follow Christ!
Finally, the last agenda of Satan behind many human inventions which I want to mention is the agenda to intensify the damnation of mankind.
Because to whom much is given much is expected, God will judge this generation more severely than the previous ones because we have more things than our predecessors. If, with all the time and energy our technologies save us, we still ended up wasting our lives by doing little or nothing for God, we will certainly find ourselves to blame on the day of judgement.
The people of old times did not have Bibles; they did not have Sunday school; they did not have TV preachers; they did not have anyone to encourage them with daily devotions on their smart phones – yet, look at how fervently they served the Lord?
They did not enjoy much ease in transportation but look at how far they travelled to reach heathen lands with the gospel of salvation and hope.
The people of old times mostly suffered from seasons of famine and dryness, but today we have so much variety of foods and drinks and snacks in our cities. And yet, with all our creature comforts in modern times, we still cannot match the believers of old times in exploits doing.
As the writer of the epistle to the Hebrew says in chapter eleven verses thirty-three through thirty-eight, the old time believers, through faith, subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword.
Out of weakness they were made strong, waxed valiant in fight and put to chase the armies of the enemy. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance that they might obtain a better resurrection.
And others had trial with cruel mocking and scourgings, yea, more over of bonds and imprisonments. They were stoned, they sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; of whom the world was not worthy:
they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. O, what a breed they were! The apostolic Christians shocked the world – they did not conform to it.
If we think that we will impress the world with our fancy cars and clothes or even with financial prosperity, we must think again. Modern Christians are too much at home in this world. They invest so much in material things as if they would never leave.
We are so much unlike the patriarchs of faith who confessed both in their words as well as in their deeds that they were strangers and pilgrims on earth.
They told the world around them that they were seeking an invisible and better country built by God. And they meant what they said because they lived what they preached.
Now, if everything you have been listening to sounds like foolishness, then that is unfortunate for you. But if the Spirit of God is now working in your heart by these words such that you see all the areas you or your ministry needs to get right with God, then do not be stubborn.
Don’t resist the Holy Spirit. But go through with God and let Him purge away all your impurities with the holy fire from heaven.
Get down on your face before the King of kings and the Lord of all the universe, and ask Him to break you in order to remould you in His glorious and sinless image.
For as Apostle Paul said, the times of ignorance and excuses have passed, and now, God commands every human being everywhere to repent in the name of Jesus Christ and pattern their lives after the life and teachings of the risen Saviour who is blessed forever more. Let us pray:
Father God, You are the source of true light and life. Your holy Son Jesus Christ is the light of life. Therefore, I pray for this person who has been listening to these words, that You will fill them with the Holy Spirit from heaven, and set them on fire for the glory of Christ alone. In Jesus name I have prayed. Amen.
